Recommended Progression of Studies
The suggested electives listed in the following chart are recommended for those students in the
M.Ed track who do not already bring graduate electives to their program. The alternative
curriculum core theory class is one that was designed by UAF to serve as a distance delivery
course. The program will also -- on a case by case basis -- accept courses from other accredited universities that meet the course and content guidelines of our core theory classes.
Students are expected to take their core theory courses (in any order) prior to applying for or being enrolled in the field experience internships/seminar classes. Approximately three face-to-face UA campus -based classes and two distance delivery courses are offered during each fall and spring semester. All core theory classes in the principal program (two sections each)
and two of the four superintendent classes are offered during the summer. The program runs summer courses during the two sessions that are provided by the UA summer school. Most
students take their courses through a variety of delivery methods and time periods, usually necessitating either distance delivery or on-campus summer course work.
